I recently picked up a Pelikan M800 Burnt Orange special edition from the good people at La Couronne du Comte from their recent penshow sale. A good couple of weeks later and it is on my doorstep 🙂
This is my first ‘serious’ Pelikan fountain pen. I mean, I have owned various M200’s and the odd M400 and vintage Pelikan, but never their flagship large pen (let’s be honest, the M1000 is for those who prefer a baseball bat to a pen). Those pens aforementioned always felt like toys as they were quite small and light, so they were eventually flipped.
The Burnt Orange reminded me of the Montblanc Hemingway (which I will probably never own) and so I decided to pull the trigger. My first impressions are very positive of this pen. It is similar in size and girth to the Duofold Centennial but with a nice heft and silky smooth piston mechanism.
Enjoy the unboxing pictures whilst I get busy writing up a review.
Cheers!
